Using props to work with backbends is very helpful. For many people, including myself, the spine and primarily the lumbar spine is more flexible in extension than the shoulder and hips. So by giving support to the spine I can work with more precision on my shoulders, upper thoracic spine and anterior hip. Here I use a piano stool and a bolster for support and a yoga belt to help with the reach. How are you using Yoga props when practicing backbends?
